Elsa & J’s Wedding | San Jose wedding photographer

Elsa and J got married in a beautiful garden at Holiday Inn, San Jose, CA on 9/19/09.  The wedding site is a gazebo inside the garden of the hotel.

It was a lot of fun working with Elsa and J. They took my advice and left enough time for me to take pictures for them alone. The result? For sure we got quite some nice

lovely shots 🙂 The garden is small, however, it is well decorated with beautiful tress and flowers. There is a small pond in the garden too.

The shooting angle is endless given such a small area.

Calli and TJ | Santa cruz wedding photographer

I had the hornor to shoot Calli and TJ’s wedding on 9/12/09. The wedding ceremony is in Hilton Scotts Valley, CA. There is a beautiful wedding site in the garden area of Hilton. I took their engagement photos last year and was very happy to see them again. Calli and TJ printed out a very large size picture taken by me and put it in the reception area. To my amazement, there were seven bridesmaid and seven groomsmen. It was fun to organize such a large wedding party in different poses and pay attention to their emotion so that I could capture the moment of happiness.

The pictures are finally here! I am happy the Callir and TJ like the pictures very much 🙂

Edwin & Evie’s Wedding, Hyatt, San Jose, CA

Edwin & Evie got married in St. Justin Church, Santa Clara on 9/5/09. I was very happy taking pictures for them since their wedding is a fushion of traditional Chinese culture and western culture. The wedding started with the tea ceremony early in the morning at Hyatt Regency, Santa Clara. After that, the bride went with the groom to the groom’s home, where they had another tea ceremony with the groom’s parents. Then we headed to St. Justin Church for the wedding ceremony, which is beautiful with magic lighting. The reception was again back in Hyatt Regancy.

Here are the pictures finally after a busy week.

Tips to the Brides and grooms

After shooting lots of weddings, I would like to summarize some tips for the brides to help generate better images. Some of the tips are also useful for the grooms or even guests, so please read it if you want to have some good wedding photography pictures 🙂

Tip 1: Always try to arrange at least half an hour’s time for the bride and groom to work with the photographer alone after the ceremony to take pictures. Ideally, one hour is needed to get great shots.

Tip 2: There are two types of shots: Formal shots and photojournalistic shots. For formal shots, please look at the camera and pay attention to the photographer; For photojournalistic shots, please concentrate on what you are doing and pay attention to other people, not the photographers.

Tip 3: Be happy and be emotional. It is your big day and you should enjoy every moment of it. Laugh loudly and cry happlily, yes I mean “cry happliy”. Great pictures come from real emotions.

More tips are coming! I will update this post when I have time.

Jay & Nina | Vallejo wedding photographer

Jay & Nina got married a year ago actually. They would like to celebrate their wedding this year so that the ceremony and party were held now. The ceremony and reception were held in Hiddenbrooke Glof Club, Vallejo, CA on 8/29/09.

Jay is a national guard and is very fun to talk to. Nina knows photography and she liked my style so that I felt very happy shooting their ceremony. Before the wedding, Nina specifically mentioned that she wanted to see the fisheye lens effect. So I will put several picture taken with Nikon 10.5mm fisheye lens here.  Finally, the pictures are ready to view and please enjoy!

The following picture was taken with Nikon 10.5mm Fisheye lens. You can see that the vertical wall become circular shape under this lens. Very interesting, huh? 🙂
